Over the 25 years that Fishtrap has been sponsoring a summer get-together, it's taken many forms. This year, we've tried to both expand and simplify the program. So, if you've attended before, the schedule will feel a little different, and we hope, better. There are several options for you this year.

Full Week-long Program: The week-long program starts Monday late afternoon, July 9th, with check-in, dinner and a welcoming evening presentation. Morning workshops will be held Tuesday-Saturday with open mics and faculty readings in the evenings. We'll close with a Sunday morning panel and presentation. Weekend highlights include a Friday night Keynote presentation by David James Duncan, and a Saturday night celebratory dinner followed by "Fishtrap Live."  $650 (does not include meals or lodging).

Youth Workshops: We are offering two morning workshops for youth, Tuesday-Saturday.  It is important to note that Fishtrap requires each attending youth under the age of 18 to have an adult sponsor/chaperone onsite who will be responsible for them after the morning workshops are over each day. We do not offer a youth-oriented afternoon or evening program, although youth are welcome to attend all of the afternoon and evening events at the discretion of their chaperones.   $265 (does not include meals or lodging).

Outpost: Please note that the Outpost check-in is on Sunday, July 8, and runs through Sunday, July 15.  The Outpost includes all meals Sunday dinner through Sunday brunch, transportation from Enterprise to College Creek, and tent camping Sunday through Saturday nights. Click here for more details. $865.

Weekend Only: For those unable to attend the full week-long program, we offer a condensed one-day workshop, keynote address by David James Duncan and other weekend activities including the 25th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday night. The Weekend Only option runs from Friday dinner through Sunday brunch and includes all meals. $200 (lodging not included).

Lodging: There are many levels of lodging available at Wallowa Lake Camp on a full week basis, from tent spaces ($12/night per person) to private deluxe round cabins--we call them "yurts" ($110/night per person). Details on lodging prices and availability here. There are also private cabin rentals available off-campus through various vacation rental agencies. Visit the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce for a full listing.

Meals: Lunch only Tuesday through Saturday, plus Sunday brunch - $60; All meals - $215. Meals are included for Weekend Only participants.

Bonus: For those who decide to get the whole package (week-long registration, on-site housing, and a full meal plan) we are offering a bonus of a free audio recording of the readings, panel discussions and open-mic sessions.

Scholarships: Fishtrap has several scholarships to help those who would not otherwise be able to attend Fishtrap events. Most scholarships are partial – they cover part but not all of the cost to attend. We currently have three named scholarship funds for which applications are accepted only at certain times. Since 2005, over 25 individuals have received scholarships from these three funds. The application deadline for funds is March 15; click here for information on applying.

What people say about Summer Fishtrap:

"What an experience to be surrounded by people who had come to think and reflect and write; it made for a high-powered workshop as well as some great dinner table conversations."

"I am happy to say I came away with some great
new, concrete writing skills . . . I find myself choosing
words in a wholly new inspired way."

Summer Fishtrap 2011: "Migrations & Passages" was a huge success according to many participants, and we'll be posting more comments and evaluations here soon. Meanwhile, click on a gallery below to view some photos of the fun-filled week of writing, reading, singing, and yes, even fishing.
